چکیده
Abstract Background To present a surgical technique for the treatment of intradural extramedullary (IDEM) tumors by using endoscopically controlled surgery with open hemilaminectomy technique. Methods In this study, 20 patients 22 IDEM were enrolled. An was employed to remove tumors. Data related clinical symptoms and medical images before after collected perioperative evaluation follow-up analysis. Results All in well removed. The significantly reduced all as well. short-term data showed that there no tumor recurrence or spinal deformity. Conclusion provided favorable exposure satisfactory resection It may be an effective method treating Larger samples longer are needed verify its long-term effectiveness.

PURPOSE Laminectomy is generally the treatment of choice for removal of spinal tumors. However, it has been shown that laminectomy may cause instability due to damage of posterior elements of the spinal column, which may induce subsequent kyphosis in the future. Therefore, to reduce the risk of deformity and spinal instability after laminectomy, hemilaminectomy has been used. However, the mediu...

Historically, these tumors have been resected using a traditional midline incision for posterior bilateral laminectomies or hemilaminectomies. Recently, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques with expandable or nonexpendable tubular retractors have been explored for spinal tumor excision for the purposes of reducing blood loss, soft-tissue injury, and hospital stays. Compared to traditiona...

The aim of this study was to investigate the microsurgical techniques of hemilaminectomy, used in the excision of intradural extramedullary (IDEM) tumors, and to illustrate its clinical effects. Clinical data obtained from 16 patients (seven males, nine females) with IDEM tumors, which were treated at the China-Japan Union Hospital between January 2009 and December 2011, were retrospectively an...
